Register now for: Addressing the anxiety of assessment in an AI world

Registration is now open for QAA Scotland’s conference exploring the current picture of assessment in an AI world across Scotland and beyond, scrutinising issues, finding practical solutions and planning next steps. 

Our event is framed by the learner voice with Jack Medlin from Keele University and Connel Greenhorn from Heriot-Watt University providing us with the learner perspective. Colleagues from across the sector including Perth College, University of the Highlands and Islands; University of the West of England; University of Dundee; Edge Hill University; and University of Derby outline their experiences of addressing assessment and AI. Our keynotes from the University of Oxford and City of Glasgow College discuss assessment and the challenges AI poses to our established routines and approaches. 

In practical breakout sessions, delegates will work together with international thought-leaders to:

• evaluate the suitability of AI for academic tasks: using five practical steps to take before deciding to use AI 
• confront bias and discrimination when using Generative AI (Gen AI) in educational settings 
• consider the role of AI to assist with grading and feedback 
• explore what students expect, want and need from Gen AI to support their studies for their assessment 
• work with a four-step model to integrate Gen AI in learning, teaching and assessment. 

The event will culminate with an overview from Jisc about the role of tertiary sector organisations as AI becomes more ubiquitous. 

Throughout the event, space will be made available to self-evaluate our current practices, work through identified challenges, and develop a practicable way forward drawing upon the voices of informed sector colleagues.
