Moira Fischbacher-Smith is Assistant Vice-Principal (Learning & Teaching) and also Dean of Learning & Teaching in the College of Social Sciences at the University of Glasgow. She has responsibilities in relation to strategy and policy development for learning and teaching, leads University initiatives on Assessment and Feedback and Student Transitions, and is a member of the Project Board that is developing a new Learning and Teaching Hub on the University's main campus. Moira's first degree was a BA Hons in Commerce at Glasgow Polytechnic (1992).
After graduating she worked for 3 years in the NHS before moving to the University of Glasgow as a researcher in 1995. She completed her PhD (1999) in the Business School at the University of Glasgow and more recently, completed an online Masters in Public Health at the University of Manchester (2011). She became Dean of Learning & Teaching in the College of Social Sciences in 2012 and Assistant Vice-Principal (Learning & Teaching) in January 2016.
