This guide discusses the need for a way to model the organisational frameworks required to integrate e-learning into institutions and the potential benefits of doing so. A shareable and adaptable general-purpose model of integrated e-learning is introduced, based on recent research. An example of the model being applied is given in a real-life context: the TrustDR project funded by JISC (Joint Information Services Committee), which is examining practical ways of introducing digital rights management (DRM) systems into the UK educational sector for learning object repositories. Finally, some ideas for further development are presented. The appendices include tool and references to assist help institutions involved in flexible learning.
