About the webinars

This series of five webinars will be exploring the resources created as part of the Transition Skills and Strategies project during Phase 1 (academic year 2014-15) and Phase 2 (academic year 2015-16) of the project. The purpose of the project was to explore the various skills and strategies students may use to help them during a period of transition, such as:

  • entering university
  • progressing from one academic level to another
  • entering postgraduate studies
  • or entering employment.

As part of the project, resources were created which aim to provide information about transition strategies. It also provides HE staff with materials they can use to run group or one-to-one sessions with students who may be struggling with transitions.

The resources cover the following transition skills:

  • Self-belief (self-efficacy)
  • Self-management of expectations
  • Critical self-reflection
  • Academic resilience
  • Mindset
  • Time management.

We recognise that different members of staff will use the resources in different ways. So, we have created ‘Packages’ aimed at different members of the academic community.
