About the webinars
This series of five webinars will be exploring the resources created as part of the Transition Skills and Strategies project during Phase 1 (academic year 2014-15) and Phase 2 (academic year 2015-16) of the project. The purpose of the project was to explore the various skills and strategies students may use to help them during a period of transition, such as:
- entering university
- progressing from one academic level to another
- entering postgraduate studies
- or entering employment.
As part of the project, resources were created which aim to provide information about transition strategies. It also provides HE staff with materials they can use to run group or one-to-one sessions with students who may be struggling with transitions.
The resources cover the following transition skills:
- Self-belief (self-efficacy)
- Self-management of expectations
- Critical self-reflection
- Academic resilience
- Time management.
We recognise that different members of staff will use the resources in different ways. So, we have created ‘Packages’ aimed at different members of the academic community. The webinars will explore the Packages for each specific group of staff. When you are registering for the webinar please select the most appropriate category.
The following webinar sessions are available:
You are welcome to attend any number of sessions. Each webinar is being recorded, so if you are unable to attend one of the sessions you will still be able to watch the recording. If the demand for webinars is high we will organise more sessions later in the year.
The webinars will be ran using “Skype for Business”. Download the Skype for Business joining instructions. You may need to download a plug-in enabling you to use the Skype for Business. We ask that you set this up and test it in advance of joining the webinar.
