Inter-institutional collaboration

During year three of Student Transitions, TLG (Theme Leaders Group) carried out a review of the year three plans and year two reports. This highlighted that many institutions were already taking forward work in similar areas. We encouraged those institutions to work together and to put forward ideas for possible projects.

QAA Scotland funded three of the projects, covering two strands:

  • student skills development to support transitions
  • the use of technology and online resources to support student transitions

Supporting student transitions into and through online learning

Strand: Use of technology and online resources to support student transitions

Led by Queen Margaret University in collaboration with University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, University of the Highlands and Islands.

The project took a students as partners approach with students from each institution having an important role. The project team created a set of resources for each of the four themes. This includes a short video and a downloadable document containing:

  • a checklist of skills and tips
  • a reflective activity
  • a list of further reading

Online learning tutors can use the resources with university students at any level, whether they are starting or continuing their learning experience.  The tutor guide includes more details about the resources and how you might use them.
